This is not a joke or the title of a science fiction novel, but today's reality. For the first time in 27 years of the Sertões International Rally, the largest off-road race on the American continent, Mitsubishi tech support vehicles serving the race will be equipped with telematics devices. The equipment will be provided by the Brazilian representative office of the Russian company Smart Driving Laboratory. The rally starts on August 24 in Campo Grande.
The 55 L200 Triton Sport pickups provided by Mitsubishi Motors which is rally’s partner will be equipped with the Element data acquisition and analysis system. During the eight stages of the race, the Element telemetry platform will record in real time the average and maximum speed, fuel level and car wear, as well as any incidents that may occur on the road.
The total length of the route will be 4,850 km - participants must cover this distance from August 24 to September 1. During the race, the Element telematics platform will allow the organizers in real time to receive information not only about the technical condition of the cars, but also about their location, and the driving style of the drivers. In addition to the online monitoring and security of Mitsubishi cars, the device provided by Smart Driving Laboratory will encourage drivers to drive more accurately and safely. Based on the results of the assessment and analysis of driving from Element, TOP-4 drivers from the technical support vehicles will be awarded with the special prizes from the Laboratory.
“We are pleased to be part of such a large-scale automotive event as the Sertões race and are proud that Russian product developed by our company has gained recognition abroad. This is a big step forward and motivation to grow and develop further. Our connected car platform will provide an opportunity to quickly respond to any changes of a technical nature, as well as to unforeseen incidents, ”said Nikita Kasyanenko, director of foreign market development at Smart Driving Laboratory.
“Thanks to the Smart Driving Labs telematics systems, we can be sure that we will return Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in the best possible condition,” said Joakim Monteiro, CEO of Dunas, the rally organizing company.
